Padmakara
Publishing and Translation Group
Padmakara is a non-profit organization committed to maintaining, translating, and publishing Buddhist teachings. Its main goal is to preserve and facilitate the Western audience's access to the core teachings of classic and contemporary Buddhist literature, especially texts on philosophy and practice.
The Padmakara Translation Group was started in 1987 in Dordogne, France. It is directed by its founder, Taklung Tsetrul Pema Wangyal Rinpoche along with Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche. Officially established since 2017, the Portuguese branch of Padmakara performs its activities under the Kangyur Rinpoche Foundation; both have collaborated in the development of countless projects.
The current team consists of practitioner-translators specializing in this vein of literature, working directly from texts in Tibetan and other languages in cooperation with Buddhist masters and scholars. Thus it aims to provide faithful, accurate, and inspiring translations to Portuguese language readers, whose access to the vast Buddhist canon whose access to the vast Buddhist canon is limited.
