About the
Kangyur Rinpoche Foundation
History
The Kangyur Rinpoche Foundation was established in 1980 by Pema Wangyal Rinpoche, Gerard Godet, and Peter Benson as a vehicle to perpetuate the activities of Kyabje Kangyur Rinpoche in India, Tibet, and the West.
In 1982, the Foundation became registered in the UK as a charity organization. Since then, Pema Wangyal Rinpoche has founded branches of the Kangyur Rinpoche Foundation in France, the USA, Switzerland and Portugal. They all share the same mission and operate under the same strict ethical and transparency standards.
In Portugal, the Kangyur Rinpoche - Fundação para a Preservação da Cultura Tibetana (Kangyur Rinpoche Foundation for the Preservation of Tibetan Culture) was created In June of 2003 and recognized by the Portuguese State in March of 2005. The Portuguese Foundation has held the status of public utility since 2013.
