Shambhala – Retreat and Public Conference in Lisbon

We are pleased to announce that, at the recommendation of Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche, there will be a new retreat and public conference with Carolyn Gimian in 23  to 25 January 2026, based on the teachings on the Shambhala Training Path developed by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche.

This event follows the retreat held in February this year with Tashi Coleman on Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche’s “The Sadhana of Mahamudra.”

These events will take place from January 23 to 25, 2026, with 2 participation options available:

  • In person – at the VIP Executive Entrecampos Hotel & Conference (Registration limited to room capacity)

Carolyn Rose Gimian
, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche’s student since 1970, has devoted her life to spreading his teachings.

After his death, she compiled and edited two additional books of his Shambhala teachings: Great Eastern Sun: The Wisdom of Shambhala and Smile at Fear: Awakening the True Heart of Bravery. She is also the editor of the ten-volume Collected Works of Chögyam Trungpa, Mindfulness in Action, and many other volumes of his work.

Carolyn was the founding director of the Shambhala Archives in Halifax, Nova Scotia, a major repository of Trungpa Rinpoche’s archival legacy, and she is the Executive Director of the Chögyam Trungpa Institute at Naropa University.
